Tallinn Construction School provides education service on the territory of prison in Tallinn arranging vocational educational processes for adult inmates (ca 40-50 students). Tallinn Construction School teaches specialities: woodwork, construction, landscaping, welder. Vocational training based on state-controlled curriculums.
Tallinn Construction School has taken a direction towards becoming the role model and leading competence center in developing vocational education in prisons – and therefore it is very important to be aware of experiences and tendencies in the field of prison education in Europe. Our organization has a good overview of the whole prison education subject in Estonia and also know the problems, which need to be solved here in Estonia and we hope to find some solutions by this project. At the initiative of Tallinn Construction School, Estonian Prison Education co-operation seminars started in 2010, and today it has become an annual tradition involving all schools operating in Estonian prisons, prison education authorities, representatives of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Education. TCS also maintains a list of all specialists in prison education in Estonia, providing important information between seminars.
